About

Salām means peace. Preparedness is how we protect it.

The SALAM Project began in 2019, in the days after the Christchurch mosque attacks, when a group of Muslim professionals started writing down what communities could actually do in the minutes before help arrives.

It grew into a volunteer team across Canada and the United States. Seven years later, that work has reached 245 communities — always free, always confidential.

The team

Professionals who volunteer their expertise.

Many of our volunteers prefer to stay out of the spotlight — so we describe the team by the skills they bring, all Muslim, all pro bono.

Emergency management
Planning, drills, and incident command.
Law enforcement
Threat assessment and de-escalation.
Urban planning
CPTED and the built environment.
Military
Operational discipline and after-action review.
