Emergency Management
Emergency planning, communications, incident coordination, exercises and continuity of essential community activities.
About the foundation
Salam Community Safety Foundation brings together practical experience in emergency management, security, community education and legal-policy awareness.
Salam Project began in 2019 with a focus on helping places of worship prepare for threats and emergencies. SALAM has supported more than 250 engagements across places of worship and other community settings.
We work with boards, staff, educators and volunteers to identify priorities, build practical skills and develop procedures appropriate to their premises.
Salam Community Safety Foundation is a federally incorporated Canadian not-for-profit corporation.
Our organization and its projects
Salam Community Safety Foundation is the organization supporting a broader portfolio of community safety, emergency preparedness, training and assessment services.
Salam Project is one of the Foundation’s place-of-worship-specific initiatives. The Foundation carries forward the project’s work, which began in 2019 before the Foundation was incorporated. Its focus is practical safety education, volunteer readiness and planning for faith communities.
The Foundation also supports programming for schools, charities, community centres and other institutions. Project names identify particular areas of work; the Foundation provides the organizational structure.
Emergency planning, communications, incident coordination, exercises and continuity of essential community activities.
Crime prevention, threat awareness, de-escalation, incident reporting and practical security procedures.
Hate-crime awareness, public legal education and institutional policy development appropriate to the agreed scope.
Our team’s combined backgrounds include emergency management, public and private security, community training and legal-policy education. Instructors are selected according to the course and project requirements.
Detailed instructor profiles and relevant qualification evidence are supplied directly to clients for project review and grant submissions.
Observation and reporting focus on behaviour and circumstances. Training considers accessibility, safeguarding, language needs and the responsibilities of staff and volunteers. Exercises are planned with the client and conducted under agreed safety controls.

Following the Christchurch attacks in March 2019, community safety professionals began sharing practical safety information through Salam Project. That work developed into assessments, volunteer training, emergency exercises and guides adapted to community settings.
Salam Project’s experience includes work across Canada and the United States. Current project availability, geography, delivery arrangements and funding eligibility are confirmed through individual scoping.
The foundation’s purpose remains practical: help organizations recognize concerns, prepare their teams and respond with clear responsibilities.
